Plantar Fasciitis

Depending on our level of exercise or how often we stand on our feet, all of us will at one point suffer from heel and foot pain. Although healing foot pain is a common ailment, when it begins to turn chronic and isn't going away on its own, it's time to consider help from the chiropractor. Heel and foot pain is a serious matter. It can indicate a serious condition such as plantar fasciitis.

Plantar fasciitis is a condition that affects nurses, security guards, and even people who exercise. This is a condition that can quickly lead to severe pain and need treatment as soon as possible. At Back In Motion Chiropractic Sports & Auto Injury Center in Beaverton, OR, we can help our patients find relief from plantar fasciitis. We want to help our patients walk without having to feel pain and get back to doing what they love.

What is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is a painful condition that affects the ligaments and tendons of the heel of the foot. Plantar fasciitis is a swelling or inflammation of the facia, which is a ligament surrounding the hill. The swelling can happen as a result of overuse or lack of support on the foot.

People that wear ill-fitting shoes, or those that work in industries that are required to stand all day can suffer from plantar fasciitis. In addition, people who put extra pressure on their feet, such as long-distance marathon runners and track athletes, can also suffer from a debilitating condition. Symptoms of plantar fasciitis include:

  • Stabbing pain in the foot
  • Pain upon standing for long periods
  • Swelling around the heel
  • Sharp shooting pain traveling up the leg

How Our Chiropractor Can Help

Your chiropractor can determine if your heel and foot pain is caused by plantar fasciitis or another condition. Plantar fasciitis can go away on its own. However, your chiropractor will need to do a full physical exam to determine the extent of your plantar fasciitis.

They can do a variety of chiropractic care techniques, including myofascial release. Myofascial release is a condition that allows the fascia of the heel to repair itself. This can alleviate symptoms of plantar fascitis and allow you to walk without pain again.
